Database Problems

I've created a MySQL database, and can successful access it through a php script, however I need to be able to access it through ODBC so I can link a table on MS Access. Despite installing the MySQL driver, using the same database name, username and password as used on the php script, I can't get it to connect - I just get the error message: " [MySQL][ODBC3.51 Driver]Access denied for user: ......."

Any ideas?
