Bloomin magic!!!!!!!!
As soon as I sent the email ftp access was back on again
Hello Brian. It was proberly an ISP/ firewall issue. Sometimes you will get a quicker response if you drop support an email so it depends on how urgent the problem is.

s'even more magical that we didn't fix/change anything, it just worked when we tried it too :P
actually if you are getting a emailling support is fine - it is what they're there for,
however posting here makes it a bit more "open" so you get group efforts in fixing it .. just remember not to post any private information, passwords etc !

Hum I "was" having FTP problems tonight too, but its fine now,
Edit to add, not quite sure about the "member title" not sure "virgin" is an appropriate title :P

Hi,
My ftp problem was a prompt "connectin refused" message which is something I have never had before, it was almost instant, no hanging about going nowhere waiting for a response - but all is well at present (Ihope!)

I think you loose your virginity after 10 posts - now that's something to look forward too :P
Yeah is a bit silly isn't it.

The only thing we can see from the logs is that a few people have managed to connect to the server on the FTP port 21, and then failed to send/receive any data whilst trying to negotiate a high-numbered passive FTP port.
This indicates either that the selected port number is either blocked at a firewall or ISP connection.
We will continue to monitor this, please report any incidences and error messages to support @ designRweb.co.uk

For me it just tries to connect, the either gives me "connection refused" or "Disconnected from server" or "can not retreive directory listing". but its intermittant, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

you're connecting no problem, handshaking etc
sending ftp commands
it's when we send back the ls -l -a directry list, we never get a response back to say you got it
we are investigating using later version of ftpd as the Plesk server version is quite old, and may simply have some compatibilty errors with your ftp client
