I use SeaMonkey and until today when I send mail I have been getting a Security Error: Domain Name Mismatch warning. The warning occurs because the secure URL I connect to is within cornwellinternet.co.uk domain while the security certificate is issued to my hosting provider, Othello Technology. I think the same error occurs with Thunderbird.

Now I have discovered an extension to SeaMonkey, equally applicable to Firefox and Thunderbird, which adds a "Don’t warn me again about this certificate for this domain" checkbox to the Domain Mismatch warning window. When selected the domain name and security certificate domain pair is stored in a Firefox / Thunderbird preference and the security error dialogue will be bypassed on subsequent visits.

The link to download the extension is here (http://andrewlucking.com/code/ff-extensions/remember-mismatch_1.2.4.xpi), on Andrew Lucking's website (http://www.andrewlucking.com/archives/2005/08/remember-mismatched-domains/).

I think this enhances security, because the first time a mismatch is reported you can check it out and if it's OK, you won't get repeat warnings. So a new and different mismatch will be more obvious.
