View Full Version : Subdomains on addon domains under domains folder

Not sure how to explain it heh, but let's say I have www.abcde.com as my main address, and have an addon domain www.12345.com.
If I add a subdomain to 12345.com (say, example.12345.com), the subdirectory will appear as a folder under www.abcde.com (as www.abcde.com/example).
Is there a way of making it so the subdomain folder goes under the addon domains folder (so, www.12345.com/example, or in full, www.abcde.com/12345/example)?
Guess while here also, how do I get HTTPS working on my account? Have added the self-signing keys, but https:// just comes back with a "interrupted while loading page".

Hello,
It is possible to create subdomains of addon domains - just go to the "Subdomains" section of your cPanel, and there should be a drop down box next to the text box where you type your desired subdomain into. In the drop down box choose the addon domain.
In order to use HTTPS, you need to have a dedicated IP. Dedicated IP's cost ?2 ($3.50) per month.
If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

I knew I wasn't clear heh.
I can create a subdomain for an addon domain, but the subdomain creates a directory in the directory path for my main domain (so www.brokensky.co.uk/examplesubdomain is actually examplesubdomain.addondomain.com).
What i'm wondering is if it's possible to make the subdomain directory stay under the addon domains directory (so instead, it'll be www.brokensky.co.uk/addondomain/examplesubdomain)

I understand you, as far as I was aware it does do this - I am just going to go and do some tests and will get back to you in a few minutes. :)
Edit: You are right, it does behave like this. It is either meant to do this, or is a cPanel bug. I am going to open a support ticket with cPanel and see what they have to say about it. I will get back to you as soon as they have responded. :)

Any word from Cpanel about this issue?

Hello,
Yes, cPanel said that this is how it is meant to behave, and that they may consider changing it in a future version.
