I am thinking of buying a domain. (If you are staff then click here), and the company I am thinking of going with is Heart Internet. Do you recommend this company? If not, please recommend another company. :)

I've never heard of Heart Internet, for domains I would recommend 123-Reg (http://www.123-reg.co.uk/) - I have over 100 domains registered with them and have had no problems at all. :)

1.Purchase Sub Domains i.e. anything.yourdomain.com
Does that mean that if I want to have forums.domain.com, then I would have to buy it?
2.Purchase POP3 Mail Boxes and access 123-reg Web MailWill I have to buy mail boxes so I can use them in cPanel?

I've never heard of Heart InternetThey are cheaper than 123-Reg, but I have read some reviews about them and they are fairly mixed, so I might go with 123-Reg. :)

My Urls dissapeared. http://www.nitrorccarcentral.uk.to/community/index.php?topic=82.msg129#new

EDIT:
Completey offtopic, but can you add Nitro and nitro to the Aspell dictonary?

No to both questions. All you have to do is buy the basic domain registration and then you can login to your 123-Reg account and change the nameservers. You will need to change them to:

ns3.statichost.co.uk
ns4.statichost.co.uk

This will point the domain name to our server, and then you can create an unlimited amount of subdomains, mail boxes, etc. via cPanel. :)

I believe you can do this yourself. According to http://www.zend.com/zend/spotlight/spellchecking.php?article=spellchecking&kind=sl&id=4792&open=1&anc=0&view=1, you can add words using the pspell_add_to_personal and pspell_save_wordlist functions. :)

 That was there when I was fixing them. I have deleted the file, and made an .htaccess file. saying DirectoryIndex index.php, so it should be sorted. :)

Now onto the site(s).

And the header has been changed:

I have set up the new navbar on the forums, and the site. View it here (http://www.rccarsource.com/) and here (http://forums.rccarsource.com/). You can see now whatever section the user is in, it now displays a diffrent image to all of the others. This is so that the user knows what section they are in. :)

They won't all work, because I have run out of subdomains. All I need is one (downloads.rccarsource.com) :(

Hi,

I am thinking of transfering my domain to AMENWORLD because I am very worried about Identity Fraud, and I do not want my details stolen by anyone using the WHOIS system.

Here are the company: http://www.amenworld.com/static/webname.html
Privacy page: http://www.amenworld.com/static/index_1262.html

Is this a company a good one to go with?

Hello Jon,

I've never used them before but by looking at their website they seem decent, have you looked on Google (http://www.google.co.uk) or WebHostingTalk (http://www.webhostingtalk.com) to see if you can find any reviews? :)

Regards,

Jon
10th February 2007, 15:27
Well I have had a look, and they have won an award for Windows Hosting Award Winner (http://www.webhostdir.co.uk/webhostawards/ukWindows.asp) as well as being in the Domain Spotlight (http://www.webhostdir.co.uk/spotlight/ukDomains.asp) in the Web Host Directory (as recommended by Microsoft, cnet, and loads more).

there are also a few reviews on web hosting talk. (http://www.webhostingtalk.com/showthread.php?t=384928)

I cannot find any user reviews specifically for domains though. :(

Also, does this mean that I will not be able to change NS or whois on there:
http://xs112.xs.to/xs112/07066/domain.jpg.xs.jpg (http://xs.to/xs.php?h=xs112&d=07066&f=domain.jpg)

If so, then I will have to look for someone else.

EDIT:
I think I will leave it for the moment. :)

Talk about my contact info, A new site (About Us) posted my name, address, phone number and even a map to my house on the internet. Luckly it was a wiki, so I have edited it out, and sent an email to the site owner to make sure that it doesn't happen again.

Here is the page: http://www.aboutus.org/Rccarsource.com

That's strange... I just visited http://www.aboutus.org/StaticHost.co.uk and it doesn't have my address listed, just my name. I didn't edit anything out, either.

The owner of thecarforum.net was also there, and he has already tried to edit out his address, but they just reverted it back to what it was. I let him know and he is now going to email the owner like I have.

My address is also still there if you go to the history and then click on the entry by AboutBot. Hopefully he will remove it soon. :(

Just a little update. I have received an email from Ray about AboutUs and he has removed the page history for me, so in essence he has removed the address from the site. :)

Just an update.

This year I had to renew the domain, and I decided to transfer my domain to Heart Internet, as they seemed a reputable brand (They were set up by the same people who set up WebFusion, but they quit in 2003 to set up Heart Internet).

Anyway, the transfer was a success, and I now have Identity Theft Protection (All WHOIS entries are replaced with www.identity-secured.com) on the domains as well as 32.5GB of space to go with it for free (30GB is given as part of their backups service "Heart Drive", and all customers also get 2.5GB of space as a webhosting space (Useless to me though 100MB of data transfer per month and no MySQL). :)

The domains I registered were:

www.rccarsource.com
www.playstationsource.net
