Hi all, looking for an constructive critisism on the site below.
http://www.westdorset.org.uk/

I have not actually finished it yet (2 months and counting) so not advertised through search engines and such.
The php scripts have taken me quite some time, especially the private messaging system (the ability to send/reply to a listing ) which was very difficult. Not so much the coding, but getting confused half way through the coding with forgetting things like whose id, ref number and such. (is it just me??, have learnt that once you start a script, finish it, don't leave it half done)

The design needs 'polishing' and the login and scripts need testing.

I am a relative novice at coding but do prefer to use all my own stuff on my websites. Not because I think there is anything wrong with using scripts already available out there, just because I 'personally' think that using my own means it will fit my design as I want and I can add or change anything to suit.
Plus it looks better with everything being copyright to yourself.

I have recently created my own guestbook, Here (http://dorsetsubmariners.org.uk/main/gbook/) as the old one was getting at least 10 spam attacks per day.

I will put this guestbook on the site above when I have the time.

I guess that the only external script I have to use is the forum, but can live with that as would be well above my ability to even attempt to create one.

Anyway, thx for looking

Site looks very good. It's nice to see you writing some custom scripts for it, instead of using pre-made ones like most other people do.

Good job! :D

Thx Steve,
I guess it's pretty pointless really as with the domain I have, I have limited myself to a small area of the population, (West Dorset) so it's never going to get busy no matter what I do. In hindsight I guess i should have gone for something like 'southwest.tld
It's all good practice though as it's the first site I have made that conforms 'fully' to W3C, which is more difficult than I expected, as plenty of alternatives had to be found to replace my usual coding practices, heights, background, to name a couple.

BTW Steve, as you know I am a returning customer, I must say I am very impressed with the service and uptime.

Well done!

Regards
Jon
