View Full Version : Hotlinkers

I was checking the stats for my site, and I noticed that quite a few people have been hotlinking images that I've posted on my site to places like forums and none other than, yep... MySpace! I'm using your free hosting, and I respect your bandwidth, so I'd like to stop these hotlinkers. I noticed the hotlink protection in the cPanel, but it seems it's not perfect for what I want. I want to disable hotlinking to images, but allow it for images in certain directories for my own use. What's the best way to go about doing this? Something involving .htaccess I believe?
Thanks
Steve

Hello Allen,
Have you tried adding the URL's that you wish to be allowed to hotlink your images in the "Urls to Allow Access" box? :)

I know I could do that, but I'd rather not do that everytime I upload a file I wish to hotlink. Is there a way I could make whole directories hotlinkable?

Alright, I got it working how I want it to. Just took a simple .htaccess in the directories I wanted to be hotlinkable. Here's my new anti-hotlink redirect image...
