Default Hotmail bins *MILLIONS* of valid emails for no reason...

As well as the well documented dumping rather than delivering of almost 60% of email that arrives on their servers without the courtesy of a bounce or fail message, Mickey-mouseSoft HotMail/MSN have implemented some new changes in the last couple of weeks...
  • HTML Links are now disabled in plain text emails, and more than 4 links in an email means it is treated as spam.
  • Mail from all new IP addresses in previously unused blocks is automatically treated as spam and deleted or dumped in the bulk folder - M$ valid IP lists are months out of date !
  • Any email server or cluster of email servers that sends more than 300 emails/day to @hotmail addresses is automatically considered a bulk emailler
  • Mentioning a URL which doesn't appear in their excuse of a Search Engine is bounced back to sender with a "content rejected" error.

With over 38,000 active email accounts, if even 1% are unfortunate enough to send a message to someone on the ever deteriorating MS (lack of ) service, they all get penalised !

And simply because we dont allow or require MSN to index our management/billing platforms, they bounce our invoices and setup emails etc.

The point of the rant is ... we are no longer able to take orders from hotmail users as of Friday 10th August.

If you really must use a free web-based email service, the only remotely stable one is GoogleMail / Gmail.
Yahoo flushed itself down the toilet years ago, and is almost exclusively used by scammers.

Of course much better would be a real email service including your own domain name starts from £10+vat/year from http://www.othellohosts.net/host_email.htm

Thanks for the info; I have just written to those of my customers who use Hotmail. Some even have PayPal messages (eg Mr X has just paid you £squillions, now send him the goods to this address) going there.

Now I imagine that PayPal and eBay send more than 300 messages to hotmail accounts in a day, probably they pass that number in a minute or so. But I also guess these companies get special treatment.

I am always puzzled at those companies who, although they have a domain name and a web site, still quote a hotmail address or ISP email as their contact.
